《the artist艺术家/大艺术家/星光梦里人》电影剧情简介：　
　　影片用默片的形式讲述了发生在默片时代向有声电影时代转化过程的故事，所有细节用力求做到惟妙惟肖，借此向好莱坞电影致敬。
　　这是一部黑白片，故事发生在1927年的好莱坞，男主角george valentin是一个默片明星，潇洒又优秀的舞蹈演员。有声时代来临之后，一切发生了变化。
　　《艺术家》完全采用了传统的好莱坞叙事手法，讲述了默片时期著名男演员乔治和当时尚为群众演员佩比在偶尔的机会一见钟情，在他的推荐提携下佩比慢慢成名；与此同时，由于乔治拒绝接受有声电影即将取代无声片的事实，被电影公司解雇。他企图重新凭借一己之力，孤注一掷独自投资拍摄默片以求证明自己的艺术价值，结果不巧适逢经济大萧条时期，他的惨败让他一蹶不振，在企图自杀后又遭已成为巨星的佩比的帮助，最终两人终于团聚在一起。电影的结局是个载歌载舞的happy end。
